Hi everyone,
I hope you are enjoying the much awaited summer weather! With the kids home on school holidays are you hearing the dreaded "there's nothing to eat!" (imagine it said with the moan tone of a bored teenager) every time they look in the pantry or fridge? Maybe you feel like that yourself when you're delving in the cupboard for a quick snack! Perhaps you're trying to change a nutrition habit and are coming undone because the healthy options are just not to hand when you need them.
Having the fridge and pantry stocked with all the essentials is ... well... essential to having a balanced baseline eating pattern. So how to keep on top of it? This one is for the grocery shopper in your family :)
1. Have a shopping list on the fridge or somewhere obvious in the kitchen with a pen close by (honestly the excuses some people will make!) Train your family to write on the shopping list whenever they finish something.
2. Have a list of essentials (word version) that you check off when writing the shopping list. I have mine on a little white board on the fridge but here is a printed version which you can make your own. (pdf)
3. For foods you go through quickly keep 2 of them - the block of cheese you are currently munching through plus a spare.
That's it, just 1 2 3 shop!
Happy shopping!
Carla :)
