A is for...

Carla Evans

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year!  To kick off 2024 we are going to start at the very beginning (it's a very good place to start - see what I did there?  If not, you need to watch The Sound of Music again!) with our ABCs.  No this email is not directed at your 5 year old, it's the ABCs of health, or rather, the ABCs of the Collective Elements Health Philosophy.  This philosophy was written many years ago and even though I review it periodically I've never changed a word.

Inspiration for this email came from some very good friends.  They have made a few lifestyle changes recently and are feeling heeeeaps better for it in terms of their energy, mood, skin, weight, clarity of thought and their ability to cope with the daily stressors of life.  It made me think of C of the ABCs but we'll get there...for now we have 'A'.

Awareness

Stop. Just stop for a moment. Turn off all noise. Be still. Breathe deeply.

Right down into your belly. Sense your body. Is there tension in the jaw,

tightness in the shoulders, bloating in the abdomen, hunger or thirst, fatigue or

energy? Awareness is the beginning and you are the only one who can be

aware of how your body is actually feeling.

Just let that sink in for a moment and see what 'pops in' for you.  I guess the crux of it is, we can practice using the sensations in the body as a guide to what is serving us and what isn't.  We might think we know what the body needs but this comes from our mind which is often a quagmire of stories we've made up, assumptions that what works for someone else will work for us, conditioned beliefs from our childhood and fear-based solutions.

Yes you might need to educate yourself on a health related matter, go for it!  Then take that information into your body and notice how it genuinely feels for you at this time.   Do you feel a sense of peace with it?  Are there butterflies in the stomach?  Is there an audible groan?  Is there a surge of power?

The body is a field of sensations that can give you incredible feedback when you really tune in.  One thing that can make this difficult is when the body is experiencing ongoing pain, fatigue or other forms of discomfort.  In this case work with mindfulness, meditation, movement and probably a health practitioner to help resolve these sensations so you can start to tune in more deeply.

This is one aspect of Kinesiology that I absolutely love.  The muscle testing helps us tap into the non-conscious self - the part that the conscious mind is not so in control of.  We can work directly with the body systems, organs, muscles, meridians, chakras and so much more to help resolve blockages that are preventing us reaching our full potential*.  If we can bring an awareness of what we are noticing in the body to our Kinesiology sessions it helps even more!

* notice that it reads our full potential - not someone else's!

So, what would you like to be more aware of?  Or what are you already aware of that you would like to find a solution for or need help with?

Happy awarenessing,

Carla :)
